Ty Gwyn Education Centres

Ty Gwyn Education Centre is a secondary age Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, serving learners aged 11 to 16 years. It provides specialist education for up to approximately 60 pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs that cannot be met in mainstream schools. The centre offers a broad and balanced curriculum including core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, alongside vocational and foundation subjects. It operates a trauma-informed approach with a strong emphasis on learner wellbeing and mental health, supported by a therapeutic staff team. The centre aims to support reintegration into mainstream education where appropriate and prepares learners for progression to college or workplace training.
