It was established in 1987 through the amalgamation of Notre Dame Grammar School and St. John Rigby R.C. High School. The school operates as part of the Romero Catholic Academy Trust and maintains a Roman Catholic religious character. It aims to be a caring Catholic community centered on Christ, focusing on developing the gifts and talents of each student to love and serve God, others, and themselves. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum and has a purpose-built Vocational Centre opened in 2009 to enhance practical learning opportunities.
