About The Richmond Hill Academy
Richmond Hill Academy is a primary school located in Leeds, United Kingdom, that operates as an academy sponsor-led institution under The GORSE Academies Trust. The school was originally Richmond Hill Primary School, which was placed in Special Measures by Ofsted in January 2017 due to significant challenges. Following its conversion to academy status in November 2017 under the sponsorship of The GORSE Academies Trust, the school underwent substantial transformation under the leadership of Principal Anna Mackenzie. The school has since regained community confidence and respect, with an Ofsted inspection in March 2022 confirming that pupils across all year groups and from all backgrounds are making strong progress in their learning. Richmond Hill Academy is particularly distinguished by its partnership with Opera North through the In Harmony project, which provides every child in the school with orchestral instrument instruction and access to singing lessons from nationally renowned teachers. The school also operates Rainbow Base, an additionally resourced provision for children with autism that has been expanded into a centre of excellence under the leadership of Rachael Law.
