About Gateacre School
Gateacre School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Belle Vale, Liverpool, England. The school was built in two phases, with the lower building completed in 1957 by architects Weightman and Bullen of Liverpool, followed by the main building in 1961 designed by architect George Whitfield. Gateacre Community Comprehensive School was the first comprehensive school to open in Liverpool and remains the last surviving example of Whitfield's distinctive 'Main building' design. In 2005, the school received joint Specialist School status in Arts & Humanities, with designations as both an Arts College and Humanities College, allowing extra funding for arts-related projects across performing, visual, and media arts, as well as enhanced focus on English and Religious Studies. The school's mission is to help each young person discover and unlock their unique talents through a commitment to educational excellence.
