"“We put our son (Jewish/atheist background) into a catholic school"

“We put our son (Jewish/atheist background) into a catholic school. We chose it for small class sizes and promises of good emotional well‑being after the death of his sister. We haven’t had that. It’s been awful tbh. … My son has ADHD and it’s been hard. So hard.”

"“This school is much more structured in Reception"

“the school is much more structured in Reception. They do play quite a bit and the outdoor facilities are great but they also have several 15‑20 minute lessons sitting at desks during the day… And they have a system of small group booster classes for anyone struggling with a topic, right from the second term of Reception. It’s quite intense but it does seem to work.”

"“We’re currently looking at possible primary schools for our daughter"

“We’re currently looking at possible primary schools for our daughter. One option is the local Catholic school. There’s a lot to like about it: it gets stellar results and the parents I’ve spoken to rave about it.”

"Some good points but room for improvement"

“They do prioritise Catholics, yes, and if they don’t have enough Catholic applicants there’s a list of other priority categories… We’re in category 11 of 12(!), as non‑religious people who live in the parish. But because overall numbers of kids are falling in London, we’d still have got a place in two of the last three years, and the headteacher was very keen to encourage non‑Catholics to apply.”
