About St John and St James CofE Primary School

St John & St James is a Church of England Primary School in the heart of Hackney. We have a Nursery, meaning that the children in our care range from three to eleven years of age. At SJSJ every child is encouraged and challenged to achieve their best through an engaging, inclusive and exciting curriculum.

"Excellent school, supportive community"

My child has thrived at St John and St James since joining the school. The teachers are knowledgeable, caring and genuinely invested in their pupils' success. The values-based approach is refreshing and I love seeing the children's understanding of 'Love your neighbour as yourself' grow.

"Mixed feelings about SEND support"

We've been at St John and St James for a few years now. While the school has a great atmosphere and the teachers are generally supportive, I'm not entirely convinced about the SEND system. It's been a bit of a struggle to get the right support for my child's needs, but I still see the potential for progress.

"Love their approach to education"

The way the teachers encourage the children to ask questions, explore and seek answers is fantastic. My child loves participating in their hands-on science experiments and I appreciate how the school promotes active global citizenship.

"Love the inclusive atmosphere"

We left Hackney a few years ago, but I still stay in touch with old friends through the school's social network. I was impressed by the church's active partnership with the local parish and how the children would often visit the church for services. It's a lovely sense of community that St John and St James fosters.
