Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy

Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy is a Welsh-medium primary school that opened in September 2024 to serve Monmouth and surrounding towns and villages in Monmouthshire. It is the third Welsh-medium primary school in the area. The school shares its site with Overmonnow Primary School and welcomes pupils from nursery age through Year 3, with plans to expand further. The school uses Welsh immersion methodology in the Foundation Phase (nursery through Year 2), where Welsh is the language of education. From Year 3 onwards, pupils follow the same English curriculum as English-medium schools, with Welsh continuing as a subject. The school provides bilingual education to children from families with varying levels of Welsh language background, with staff trained to support learners through immersion while using English when necessary for wellbeing.
