Newport Nursery School

Newport Nursery School is a happy, nurturing, and inclusive nursery school situated in an urban area of Newport, South Wales. The building was opened as a Nursery School in 1968 in a structure originally built in 1889 as a school. The nursery underwent significant changes over the decades, including amalgamation with Rockfield Nursery School in 1994, modernization and renovation in 2002, and most recently in September 2021 when Fairoak Nursery School amalgamated with Kimberley Nursery School to form the current Newport Nursery School. The school can accommodate up to 144 children on roll throughout the year and operates a specialized Communication Class catering for up to 16 children with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The school is well-resourced with safe and inviting learning areas, and despite challenges presented by restricted outdoor space, staff have created an interesting outdoor learning environment with a wide range of areas to enrich pupils' learning. The school follows the Curriculum for Wales and is committed to developing pupils' spiritual, moral, and social skills while supporting their communication, social, and physical development.
