About The Gateway School

The Gateway School is a special needs secondary school, catering for young people with an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP) whose primary need is linked to Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH). Our students deal with issues which directly affect their ability to deal with social and emotional issues effectively and/or to positively balance their mental health. We are committed to helping them to prepare for adulthood and life outside of school.

"Excellent Support for Our Child's SEMH Needs"

We have been thoroughly impressed with the dedication and support shown by The Gateway School to our child's SEMH needs. The new facilities are excellent and the staff go above and beyond to ensure our child feels safe and included. We have seen a huge improvement in our child's confidence and well-being since joining the school.

"Encouraging Independence and Confidence"

Our child has thrived at The Gateway School and we are grateful for the opportunities provided to encourage independence and confidence. The Arbor resilience program has been particularly effective in helping our child develop coping strategies and manage anxiety.

"Mixed Experience"

We had a mixed experience with The Gateway School, with some excellent staff members who truly cared about our child's well-being, but also some challenges with communication and consistency. We appreciated the efforts made to support our child's SEMH needs, but felt that the school could improve in some areas.
