About Windlehurst School

Windlehurst School is a special school for children and young people aged 11-16 years (Key Stages 3 and 4) and is maintained by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. It caters for pupils who have social, emotional or mental health difficulties. Our aim is to build up and maintain positive relationships with the pupils so we can meet their individual needs and help them towards achieving their potential.

"Windlehurst School Gave Our Child a Second Chance"

We were struggling to find a school that could meet our child's complex needs, but Windlehurst School exceeded our expectations. The staff worked tirelessly to create a personalized learning plan, and the school's focus on social, emotional, and mental health difficulties resonated with us. Watching our child grow and succeed at Windlehurst was truly inspiring.

"A Mixed Experience for Our Child"

While Windlehurst School has many strengths, we've experienced some challenges with our child's transition from mainstream school. The staff have been supportive, but we feel that the school could do more to communicate with parents about progress and concerns. We appreciate the school's commitment to Restorative Approaches, but it's taken some time for our child to adjust.

"Exceptional Education and Care for Our Child"

Windlehurst School has provided our child with a supportive and inclusive environment, allowing them to thrive academically and personally. The Restorative Approaches program has been a game-changer, teaching them valuable life skills and conflict resolution techniques. We're grateful for the dedication of the staff and the opportunities for extracurricular activities, such as Forest School.
