The original school was founded in 1869 and was sited next to the parish church at Snow Hill. The school strives for excellence as disciples of Jesus, learning from St Mary and St John.

"Wonderful school with a strong Catholic ethos"

Our children have been at SS Mary and John's for 3 years now and we couldn't be happier. The teachers are kind, patient and dedicated, the facilities are excellent and the emphasis on faith and values is just what we wanted for our children. We feel so lucky to have found this wonderful school!

"Excellent school with a fantastic music program"

We've been at SS Mary and John's for 2 years and our child has made amazing progress. The music program is fantastic and our child loves their weekly music lessons. The teachers are all very friendly and approachable and the school values of kindness, compassion and respect are something we really appreciate.

"Mixed experiences with inconsistent teaching"

We left SS Mary and John's after 4 years and had mixed experiences with the teaching staff. Some of the teachers were excellent and really cared about the children, but others seemed inconsistent and unsure of how to manage the classroom. The facilities are good, but the school could do more to support children with SEND.
