Ysgol Y Graig

Ysgol y Graig is a primary school located in Llangefni, Anglesey, serving approximately 380 children aged 3 to 11. The school was relocated from a busy industrial estate to a greenfield site on the outskirts of Llangefni, designed with sustainability in mind and featuring natural materials such as cedar cladding and stone gabions. It was a landmark development for Anglesey, aiming for a BREEAM Very Good/Good sustainability rating. The school is within walking or cycling distance for most pupils, reducing car journeys and promoting safety with direct footpath links to nearby housing estates. Recently, a new Net Zero Carbon Foundation Phase extension began construction to increase capacity from 330 to 480 pupils, reflecting growing demand due to local housing developments. This extension, costing around £10.5 million, will also include nursery and care units for pre-school children, enhancing the educational environment and facilities.
