About Great Oaks School

Great Oaks School is a large Southampton secondary school for young people with a range of complex learning difficulties including autism and speech and language difficulties. We follow a broad and balanced curriculum with a particular emphasis on developing communication, literacy, numeracy and personal and social skills. We have introduced the Great Oaks Guarantee which lists 13 extra-curricular opportunities that we aim to give all pupils during their time at the School.

"Mixed Feelings About Our Experience"

We're still getting used to the school, but so far, it's been a bit of a mixed bag. Our child loves the arts programs and the sports facilities, but we've had some issues with communication and organization. We're hoping things will improve as we get more settled, but for now, we're taking things one step at a time.

"Fantastic Support for My Child"

We were a bit nervous about choosing a special school for our child, but from the moment we visited Great Oaks, we knew it was the right place. The staff are so caring and supportive, and the facilities are amazing - the sensory rooms and IT suites are a game-changer for our child's learning. We especially love the Great Oaks Guarantee, which gives our child access to all sorts of extra activities and experiences.

"A School That Truly Cares"

We're not even in the UK anymore, but we still think about Great Oaks with love and gratitude. Our child thrived in the supportive environment, made incredible progress, and developed a sense of confidence and self-worth that we'd never seen before. The school's values of Encourage, Inspire, and Support really shine through in everything they do.
